The Way Forward

It's a journey because it doesn't all happen at once

If you don’t already have a fulfilling art practice, I’m here to tell you that you’re not lazy. You’re not a failure. And it’s not too late for you.

It can be overwhelming to try to figure it all out at once.

Being a creative person can be confusing. There’s this feeling that there’s so much inside that wants to come out. It all shows up at once, and it’s pushing to get out.

But what, when, where how? It’s almost too big to tackle head on. Because it’s so big, and it feels so strong, that it can be crippling.

You don’t have to have it all figured out before you begin.

Start small.

Begin at the beginning, in the tiniest little ways.

You can begin by just showing up for yourself today, right now, where you are, and doing the tiniest little thing that you’re able to do.

And then try again tomorrow.

And then the day after that.

It doesn’t have to be overwhelming and you don’t have to do it all at once.

You can build over time. Because that creativity that urge, that impetus inside you… it’s there for you to explore and discover. That’s what this process is. It’s an exploration. A dive into who you are, and what you’re here to express.

You don’t have to have it all figured out right now.

Clarity comes through movement.

Action contains information.

The way forward will unfold. You don’t need to know before you begin. The way will become clearer.

You can’t receive what steps four, five and six need to be until you take the first step. And then the second step. And then the third step.

Show yourself that you’re willing to show up, demonstrate that you’re willing to participate. And the way will become clear. Start small. And I know the way we’ll be clear for you.

You’ve got this.

So what are you going to make today?
